Gimme A Break

After meeting with her doctor last week, mom was given a two month break from her chemotherapy treatments. This does not include her Herceptin treatment, she will still have that every 3 weeks. Her current chemo drug, Gemzar, was causing too many negative side effects and her body needs some time to recover before treatment can resume. This is a welcome break both physically and mentally. In the last few days alone, as the drug exits her system, both her mood and health have been revived. Mom will meet with her doctor again in May and determine her new treatment schedule which will most certainly include a new chemo drug. It is uncertain which drug will be next and what it will entail. In the meantime we are going to enjoy the time away and focus on more pleasant things away from hospitals, needles and drugs. We will keep you posted on any fun adventures we encounter over the next few weeks.
