What A Difference A Week Makes

Last week Mom had the week off from treatment, but unfortunately she spent most of that time recovering from the side effects of her chemo drugs. She was dealing with extreme fatigue, loss of appetite, fever, flu like symptoms and a skin rash. The only side effect from the list of possibilities she didn't have to deal with was nausea and vomiting, we caught a break on that one. By week's end she was feeling better and was able to catch up on some of her errands. Today she received another dose of Gemzar and its uncertain if she will once again have to endure the same unwelcome side effects, the next few days will let us know.

As it stands now she has (3) more treatments to complete the Gemzar cycle, taking us into the month of May. At that point scans of her liver will be taken to determine what progress she has made and also what future treatments she will undergo.

On a positive note, Mom's last scan of her breast and lymph nodes revealed that they were both cancer free! Her breast doctor was amazed at her progress and that there were no signs of the disease in those two body parts. Therefore the focus is now on the liver and tackling that organ.

Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers...keep 'em coming!
